The Association of Contemporary Art Galleries of the Valencian Community (LAVAC) opens the season with the celebration of the eleventh edition of Abierto València. This event is offered as one of the most outstanding artistic and cultural events of the Valencian Community.
Abierto València 2023 will take place from 22 to 29 September celebrating its traditional Opening, guided tours and a round table that this year becomes a dialogue between two experts of contemporary art. As a great novelty, LAVAC will hold a group exhibition bringing together a selection of artists from all the galleries of the association.
Once again this year, we would like to thank the sponsors and collaborators who support and accompany us, making it possible for us to get this far, for their support to the galleries, the artists and the art.
As every year we will have the acquisitions of the Conselleria de Cultura for the “Best Exhibition” and of the City Council of Valencia for the “Outstanding Artist”, which will be chosen by a professional jury that this year is composed by Nuria Enguita, director of the IVAM, Marta López Ricarte, Director of the Museo de la Ciudad, José Luis Pérez Pont, director of the CCCC, Ángels Miralda, critic and curator of exhibitions, and Julia Morandeira, curator, researcher, teacher and director of KADIST Paris.
We will also be counting on the acquisitions of the Hortensia Herrero Foundation, DKV Collection, Gandía Blasco Group, Makma, Juan José Castellano Comenge Foundation, MARTE Contemporary Art Fair of Castelló, La Escalera Collection, Kells Collection and we welcome Biohub life science art collection, which joins the acquisitions programme in this eleventh edition.
Cervezas Alhambra, through its contemporary creation platform, celebrates for the fourth time in Abierto València the Cervezas Alhambra Award with the aim of recognising, disseminating and promoting the creations of emerging artists and the galleries that host them, to bring them to a wider public and contribute to the revaluation of the artworks. The prize will be chosen by popular vote online and will be awarded on the last day of the event, 29 September, with a celebration open to the public at the winning gallery.
