THE BEST SELECTION OF CONTEMPORARY ART IN “ABIERTO VALÈNCIA 2021” FROM SEPTEMBER 23RD TO OCTOBER 1ST.
In this ninth edition of the festival of the Contemporary Art galleries of the Valencian Community, the novelties will be reinforced with a greater participation of both galleries and institutions.
The art galleries of the Valencian Community present their program for this year.
Two new galleries: The Liminal and Gabinete de Dibujos, in addition to the renewed The Blink Project and Espai Tactel, which are now House Of Chappaz Showcase and House Of Chappaz Flat respectively, add their proposals to the other 15 galleries that join forces to celebrate their party from September 23 to October 1.
A total of 19 galleries are joining together for the event and will have their doors open continuously during the weekend to welcome the public and present the projects of the season, the novelties and the annual program.
For months now LAVAC (Association of Contemporary Art Galleries of the Valencian Community) has been working hard on the preparations for Abierto València 2021, its big party that this year will feature, as in previous editions, the Gallery Walk routes, organized by ARCO and the talks at IVAM.
As in previous editions, the Conselleria of Culture makes an acquisition to the “Best Exhibition” and the València City Council another acquisition to the “Outstanding Artist”.
Also within the event, other acquisitions of different collections will be awarded, such as the Hortensia Herrero Foundation, the DKV collection, the Gandía Blasco group, Makma and the Juan José Castellano Comenge Foundation.
Cervezas Alhambra, through its contemporary creation platform crear/sin/prisa, joins Abierto València for another year by awarding a prize with the aim of recognizing, disseminating and promoting the creations of emerging artists and the galleries that host them, in order to bring them closer to a wider public and contribute to the revaluation of the works. In addition, this award has eliminated the age limit for artists, thus expanding the number of participants. This award goes to the work most voted by the public, a vote that is carried out telematically from the beginning of the event until September 30.
Another novelty this year is the round table that will be moved to Saturday afternoon entitled: “Collecting and more. Projects around the dissemination of contemporary art in the Valencian Community” sponsored by the foundation El Secreto de la Filantropia and moderated by Luis Trigo. Rosa Castells, Sandra Guimarães, Javier Quilis and Juan Manuel del Pino will participate.
