OPEN VALÈNCIA 2020 EXTENDS DATES AND RELEASES IMAGE

As every year Abierto València approaches the public inviting to visit and know the projects of the contemporary art galleries in Valencia.

Abierto València will be held from Thursday 24th September to Friday 2nd October. On Friday and Saturday the Valencian galleries open their doors in special continuous schedule from 17:00 to 23:00 hours, to announce the opening of their program and new projects to the general public.

With this eighth edition LAVAC, Association of Contemporary Art Galleries of the Valencian Community, organizer of the event, consolidates the approach of the public to their creators and the gallery owners who represent them. Within this celebration, prizes will be awarded, guided visits to the galleries will be made, there will be talks and different actions, which all together make sense of Abierto València.

On Thursday 24th September the jury will visit all the galleries to award the prizes the following day. Members of the jury confirmed for the moment are: the collector Natalia Yera, the director of the video art fair Loop in Barcelona, Aurélien Le Genissel, José Luis Pérez Pont, director of the Centre del Carme de Cultura Contemporània and Sandra Moros, curator of the IVAM.

On Friday 25th September, in the morning, the press conference will be held at the IVAM and the name of the winners will be announced, with the award of the Consellería de Cultura to the “Best Exhibition” and the award of the Valencia City Council to the “Outstanding Artist”. The winners with the acquisition of work will also be communicated, which this year will be awarded by the Hortensia Herrero Foundation, the DKV collection, the Gandía Blasco company, the Castellano Comenge Foundation and the MAKMA magazine.

In the afternoon, the galleries will be open to the public during special hours from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

As in previous editions will highlight the Gallery Walk routes on Friday and Saturday, organized by ARCO and the talks at IVAM on the morning of Saturday 26 September, which this year is run by the Foundation “The Secret of Philanthropy”. The participants will be, Elisa Hernando, founder of Arte Global and Red Collectors, the curator and director of the Art Center Hortensia Herrero Javier Molins and the president of the Foundation “The Secret of Philanthropy” Luis Trigo.

The Premio Popular Cerveza Alhambra Abierto València will be the last one to be announced on October 2nd. The voting of this award will be done online by the public visiting the exhibitions of the participating galleries.

Abierto València will have a more significant vision at all levels with the new image, work of Antonio Ballesteros. A radical change, a current and attractive brand design that facilitates the recognition of this celebration of Valencian galleries that open to the public with the intention of publicizing their work and current art trends.

The galleries participating this year in Abierto València by LAVAC are Espai Nivi Collblanc, Luis Adelantado, Aural, Benlliure, Isabel Bilbao, Alba Cabrera, Galería Cuatro, Espai Tactel, La Mercería, The Blink Project, Tuesday to Friday, Punto, Rosa Santos, Set Espai d’Art, Shiras Galería, Galería Thema, and Vangar. Espai Nivi Collblanc from Castellón and Aural from Alicante will participate in the loaned spaces, while Isabel Bilbao will participate from Jávea.
