On the next 21st of September the Association of Contemporary Art Galleries from the Valencian Community -LaVAC- will be celebrating the 6th edition of Abierto Valencia, a gallery weekend that opens the beginning of the 2018/19 season in Valencia.
To celebrate the event, each gallery will be offering a cocktail during the gallery walk, from 17:00 to 22:00 and the visitors are invited to discover the works of a number of artists that will be showing their works in different venues across the city.
On the same day the Best Exhibition Award of the 6th edition of Abierto Valencia, awarded by Conselleria d ́Educació, Investigació, Cultura i Esport, will be announced. The jury will be composed of experts such as: Maribel López, Deputy director of ARCOMadrid; Benjamin Weil, Artistic Director of the Botin Centre; Sergio Rubira, Deputy of the Area of the Collection and Exhibitions at the IVAM, and José Luis Pérez Pont, director of the CCCC. New acquisitions by Fundación Hortensia Herrero, Colección DKV, and Gandía Blasco, will be announced on the same moment.
This year the art galleries participating in Abierto Valencia are: Mr Pink, espaivisor, Rosa Santos, Luis Adelantado, Aural, Paz y Comedias, Galería Shiras, Set Espai d’Art, Galería Thema, Galería 9, Galería Cuatro, Benlliure, Alba Cabrera, Espai Tactel, Plastic Murs, Pepita Lumier, and Punto.
In addition to that, we have also organized a panel discussion with the Latin-American art collector Dani Levinas. The panel discussion will take place on the 22nd of September at the Master Classroom of the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofia and will be open to the public.
“Arco Gallery Walk” will take place on the 21st and 22nd of September to approach visitors to the history of the galleries and their artists. As every year, AVALEM will be in charge of the guided tours to the galleries.
As in every edition, Abierto Valencia aims to become an unavoidable event that attracts art lovers, experts, critics, curators, and artists but also keeps the goal of connecting people to contemporary art through a simple and easy way.
